What are the social security holidays for December and January?

I sort of understand every company and government organization not wanting to talk to people because people are problems. and They call because they have a problem. We don't want to hang around on an 800 number for an hour. Why can't we have the local phone niumber to our local office?

I am working, I do not know for how much longer I can physically work. I am in great pain but I have been working since November 1, 2018. I am living in Susanville. Should I call the office here for an appointment? Thank you

I visited our local SSA office after spending an hour on hold with the National 800 number to find our what I needed in order to obtain a new SS card for my grandson. I purposely let the gentleman from the National 800 # know that I do not have custody of my grandson and both parents are incarcerated. He told me it was no problem and proceeded to tell me what I needed to take with me. Once I arrived at the Susanville, CA branch, the employee that called my number immediately began talking over me. He would not listen to anything that I was trying to tell him. According to him, the people who answer the National 800 # have no idea what they are talking about. It was very discouraging. At this point, apparently it is impossible to obtain a new SS card, as no one has custody of my grandson. No solutions to my problem were presented to me, I was just told that it was illegal and the people who answer the National 800 # are incompetent. At this point, I have no idea who to believe, the local office or the National number. I can honestly say that I have never in my life been on the receiving end of such terrible customer service and as a Federal employee myself, I am appalled. In the event that someone actually reads this, I would love to know how I can go about accomplishing my goal of obtaining a copy of my grandson's SS card so I can cover him under my health/dental/vision benefits. Will a Power of Attorney work?
